CBS and ABC Remain Silent as NBC Covers Brutal Murder of Henry Nowak
The senseless murder and callous police intervention in the murder of Henry Nowak have stirred outrage and protests in the United Kingdom but had not yet garnered coverage in the United States. NBC Nightly News is now the first network evening newscast to cover that awful story.
The underlying events, as summarized by our own Bill D’Agostino:
On the evening of December 3, 2025, Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old British college student in Southampton, England was violently murdered while walking home. He was stabbed five times by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, the British-born son of Sikh Indian nationals.
When the police arrived on the scene they handcuffed Nowak, not Digwa, after Digwa lied to officers that Nowak had “racially abused” him. As Nowak was handcuffed and dragged by officers, he pleaded with them repeatedly for help, insisting he couldn’t breathe, and he’d been stabbed. One officer replied: “I don’t think you have, mate.” He died just minutes after being cuffed.
The networks were able to suppress the story so long as bodycam video was not available. Once the bodycam video was released, though, NBC became the first to move forward. Here is the full report as aired on NBC Nightly News on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026:
WATCH: @NBCNightlyNews is the first U.S. broadcast network newscast to report on the callous police response to the horrific murder of Henry Nowak.

TOM LLAMAS: We're going to head overseas because there are massive protests erupting in the UK tonight over new body cam video showing police handcuffing a white student while he was dying. The anger boiling over onto the streets and reaching the highest levels of the government. Kelly O'Donnell has this one.
KELLY O'DONNELL: Tonight, a flash point in the United Kingdom. Chants of, “I can't breathe.” Public anger boiled over, with demonstrators aiming at police. That demonstration echoes the words of an 18-year-old, Henry Nowak, heard in newly released police body camera footage.
HENRY NOWAK: I can’t breathe!
O’DONNELL: Nowak, who was stabbed multiple times, died in police custody after he attempted to tell officers he was hurt. The actions of police officers who handcuffed the wounded man under new scrutiny.
POLICE OFFICER: You all right?
NOWAK: ..mate, I’ve been stabbed.
POLICE OFFICER: You’ve been stabbed? Whereabouts?
O'DONNELL: Nowak, who was white, died last December. The new uproar followed Monday's murder conviction of 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa, who is Sikh. The controversy centered on how police responded to Novak after Digwa claimed he had been the victim of a racial slur. The judge said that claim was false. Novak's father said his son deserved better.
MARK NOWAK: Henry did not die with dignity. He did not die with the care he deserved.
O'DONNELL: Nile(SIC) Farage, a far-right Member of Parliament, tapped into public anger and invoked race.
NIGEL FARAGE: They didn't believe him. The last words on Earth this man heard were his rights read out to him all because of a false accusation of racism.
O'DONNELL: But British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged calm.
KEIR STARMER: When Henry's family is saying “please don't do that, it's our son”, then really, as politicians, as human beings, we should start where they start. And that's where I start.
O'DONNELL: One officer involved has resigned. And authorities say the investigation into police conduct continues. Tom.
LLAMAS: Okay. Kelly, we thank you.
The report, although imperfect, hits most of the most important points. A young man is stabbed. Police arrive, stabber claims to be the victim of a racial slur, the police attempt to arrest the stabbing victim and question him when he claims to be unable to breathe due to his wounds. The victim dies, protests ensue.
In fairness, the report really underplays the racial angle, which is central to the horrific police response that proved fatal to Nowak. As the BBC reports, it is the stabber’s brother who calls 999 (the UK’s equivalent 911) to report a racial incident- not a stabbing.
The constables were there to arrest a man for allegedly making racist statements, and laughed away his pain as an attempt to evade arrest. This mockery was also underplayed by O'Donnell, who notably botched Nigel Farage's name while tagging him as "far right", which the Elitist Media do to anyone to the right of Lenin.
This, in a country struggling with end-stage wokeism gone awry, an ongoing assault on free speech, and an out-of-control immigration crisis, is what has led to protests. These elements are central to understanding the gravity of the story.
But at least NBC filed a report, which is more than can be said for ABC and CBS. ABC ran a story out of the United Kingdom- unfortunately, it was the knighting of Sir Idris Elba. CBS devoted that time to meteor sightings. We’ll see whether the rest of the Elitist Media continue to suppress a story that has triggered global shock waves.
