Louisiana Gov. Landry Signs ‘Biological Truth Act,’ Erasing Subjective Gender Labels
Common sense has been restored in Louisiana, Republican Governor Jeff Landry declared Wednesday after signing his state’s “Biological Truth Act.”
The new law removes gender-identity labels and eliminates all ambiguity regarding a person’s legally-recognized sex:
“‘Sex’ means an individual's biological sex, either male or female, as observed or clinically certified at birth. ‘Gender identity’ and other subjective terms shall not be used as synonyms or substitutes for the term ‘sex.’”
The effect of the Biological Truth Act is to institute changes to the use of terms in state statutes, the new law explains:
“[T]o change references from gender to sex; to provide with respect to definitions; to provide for the use of gender and number; to provide for boards, commissions, and councils; to provide for statistical data collection and reporting; to provide for various technical revisions; and to provide for related matters.”
“Common sense will always be the law in Louisiana! Thank you Representative [Republican Mike] Johnson for bringing this bill to my desk!” Gov. Landry says in a social media video announcing the new law removing gender-identity ideology subjective pronouns from government documents:
“You know, when I grew up, there were actually only two sexes: male and female,” Gov. Landry says in the video, expressing disappointment that, today, “We can’t even come to some understanding that there are still only two sexes.”
“With the signing of this bill, Louisiana has only two sexes: male and female. And now, we go back to plenty of common sense,” Gov. Landry says, concluding his remarks.
