James Blood Ulmer passed away on June 3, 2026 at the age of 86.(Photo Courtesy: Paul Natkin/Getty Images via https://www.theguardian.com/music/2026/jun/09/james-blood-ulmer-adventurous-us-guitarist-and-vocalist-dies-aged-86)Known for his incredible and unique music, the guitarist was born in 1940 in South Carolina and began traveling along in funk bands before landing himself in New York.  His musical career led him to deliver three albums: Free Lancing, Black Rock, and Odyssey between 1981 and 1983.  In addition, he formed a separate band with David Murray, Amin Ali, and Ronald Shannon Jackson called Music Revelation Ensemble.  They released seven albums including their debut No Wave.James continued playing and releasing studio albums until he officially retired in 2024.
