“She Was Mad At Me For That” — Ella Langley Tells Hilarious Story About Scaring Off A Snake Before Miranda Lambert Could Get To It With Her Shotgun

Reba wants no part of that… Ella Langley has already had incredible year, taking home a record-breaking seven trophies in a single night during last months ACM Awards, and her sweep officially shattered the previous single-night record of six wins, which was shared by country legends Garth Brooks (1991), Faith Hill (1999), and Chris Stapleton (2016). Not bad company at all… Her hit sophomore album Dandelion has been one of the biggest albums of the year, and it was executive produced by country superstar Miranda Lambert, who also helped write and was a huge part of Ella’s smash crossover hit single “Choosin’ Texas,” which they wrote with Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. Ella and Miranda have become close friends, and Ella has spoken at length about how much it has meant to her to have Miranda in her corner. And last night, she opened up about just how important it has been to have Miranda there to give her advice during this crazy time in her life. They are a perfect pair both professionally and as friends, and during a recent conversation for Elle with Reba too, Miranda and Ella told some great stories about their writes together, with one in particular happening at one of their last writes. Ella explained that they were sitting outside and she saw a snake, and moments later, Miranda came walking out with a shotgun to take care of it… but Ella just wanted to catch it, move it and let it live: “Well, at one of the last writes we had, I saw a snake, and I tried to get up and catch it. And Miranda walked outside with a shotgun.” Miranda clarified that they were out at her farm, joking that she and Ella were trying to “out redneck each other”: “We were at the farm, y’all. We were trying to out redneck each other is what we were doing.” Ella clarified that she scared the snake off before Miranda could get to it, and Miranda was not too happy about that… “The snake did not get shot. I scared it off, and she was mad at me for that. She was like, ‘Dang it, I was right here.’ I will never forget… she didn’t tell me she was going to get the gun. She just kinda walked out, you know.” I’m guessing it was venomous since Ella was wanting to catch it, in which case I have to side with Ella in wanted to move it and let it live. Reba’s face said it all during this conversation, and Miranda joked with Reba, saying surely she’d want to come write with them now. She promised they would keep it “low-key” if she would join them, though they would give her a little something to sip on: “Reba, don’t you wanna come write with us? We’re gonna kidnap Reba… we won’t do snakes and shotguns if you come out with us. We’ll keep it low-key.” Reba just wants a little ice tea, no shotguns or snakes… “Ice tea?” Miranda promised they would have tea… with a little “something in it”: “Yeah, something in it, but yeah.” Sounds good to me… I can only imagine that whole scene, and honestly, “snakes and shotguns” or something like that has some real potential for a country song in my humble opinion… You can check out the full video, and I highly recommend it because it’s a great conversation between someone the genres best: “Butterfly Season” The post “She Was Mad At Me For That” — Ella Langley Tells Hilarious Story About Scaring Off A Snake Before Miranda Lambert Could Get To It With Her Shotgun first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
