JFK’s Grandson Loses Democrat Primary To Replace Retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler, Here’s Who Won

JFK’s grandson has lost his first Congressional primary. Jack Schlossberg, who is the grandson of late President John F. Kennedy, was defeated in New York’s 12th Congressional District Democrat primary and he lost by a large margin. Schlossberg lost to state Assemblyman Micah Lasher who will now be the favorite to replace retiring Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler. George Conway the ex-husband of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway also suffered a humiliating defeat placing fifth in the primary. People reported more on New York’s 12th Congressional District primary: Jack Schlossberg’s dream of advancing the Kennedy family legacy on Capitol Hill has been put on pause after he failed to secure the Democratic nomination in New York’s 12th Congressional District on Tuesday, June 23. Voters in the deep-blue Manhattan district took to the polls this summer to decide between a crowded field of Democratic candidates, including Schlossberg, state Assemblyman Micah Lasher, state Assemblyman Alex Bores, prominent anti-Trump lawyer George Conway and public health researcher Nina Schwalbe. Lasher — a former adviser to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and ex-N.Y.C. Mayor Michael Bloomberg who earned the backing of mainstream Dems — received the most votes in the primary, according to projections from the Associated Press, sending him to November’s general election as the automatic frontrunner. Schlossberg, the only grandson of President John F. Kennedy, launched his congressional campaign in November as an outsider up against much of the Democratic Party machine, which largely rallied behind Lasher. Schlossberg’s most notable supporters included former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and his mother, former U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy. Though Schlossberg and Conway — the ex-husband of onetime Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway — had the most name recognition nationally, Lasher and Bores were handily positioned in first and second place, respectively, in a trusted poll that was released in May. Here were the full results: Schlossberg previously received backlash after he mocked First Lady Melania Trump. Newsweek reported more on the incident: Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of the late President John F. Kennedy, recently shared a video on Instagram where he donned a blonde wig and read aloud First Lady Melania Trump’s letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, mocking her. Schlossberg, 32, is a Harvard graduate, and his parents are JFK’s only surviving child, Caroline Kennedy, and her husband, Edwin Schlossberg. He regularly goes viral online and is known for using his social media to speak about politics and against Trump. In the video, which has been viewed over 200,000 times as of reporting, Schlossberg dons a blonde wig and imitates Melania Trump’s accent, reading her letter aloud. Toward the end of the video, Schlossberg criticizes the letter and says, “What am I saying, this makes no sense. Please be more specific, Miss Melania Trump.” The video is consistent with the content Schlossberg usually shares. He has shared videos mocking public figures before, including a video impersonating White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
