The Magic Faraway Tree Trailer Gives Us the Film’s Plot and a Whole Lot of Whimsy

News The Magic Faraway Tree The Magic Faraway Tree Trailer Gives Us the Film’s Plot and a Whole Lot of Whimsy There’s even a fart joke in there By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on June 24, 2026 Image: Vertical Comment 0 Share New Share Image: Vertical The Magic Faraway Tree feature adaptation is set to come out in theaters this summer, and Vertical released a two-minute trailer today that lays down the plot of the film and also teases more of the movie’s jolly vibes. It starts out with the three children who ignore the literal warning signs set up in the woods by their new countryside home and come across a tree that is a magical home for several delightful beings, including Moonface (Nonso Anozie), Silky (Nicola Coughlan), Dame Washalot (Jessica Gunning), and Saucepan Man (Dustin Demri-Burns). The kids travel to floating magical worlds the tree is sometimes attached to, and the kids’ parents, Polly and Tim (played by Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield) head in after them, but not before Dame Snap (Rebecca Ferguson) finds the children, leaving them at risk for being stuck in one of those magical worlds forever. Like the trailer before it, this one comes with a great deal of whimsy; not surprising given it is based on the classic children’s novel of the same name by Enid Blyton. (It also can’t help but evoke memories of my 1980s version of the board game Candyland, specifically how Ferguson’s Dame Snap looks like Lord Licorice and Anozie’s Moonface reminds me of King Kandy. Dame Washalot also kinda looks like Gramma Nutt… tell me I’m wrong.) The adaptation is helmed by director Ben Gregor and its script comes from writer Simon Farnaby. It’s set to premiere in theaters on August 21, 2026. Check out the second trailer for The Magic Faraway Tree below.
