Lainey Wilson Does Her Best Boston Accent & It’s Actually Quite Jarring

Lainey Wilson was a performer for the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the Fourth of July, and it sounds like she was really getting into the spirit while being in Boston, because this afternoon, she shared a hilarious video of herself trying to pronounce various towns in Massachusetts. Of course, Boston natives have an accent very different from Lainey’s usually thick Louisiana twang that is a huge part of who she is (many people have accused her of “faking it” but I think that’s probably people who have never been to certain parts of the South and actually heard people talk), and so it ended up being really funny to hear her talk like that. As a Southerner myself, I don’t think I could’ve gotten any of these right, and I’m sure people from the Boston are would say Lainey’s accent is completely inaccurate, but we’ve had to listen to decades of horrendous Southern accents on movies and TV so I consider this just getting even. It’s honestly jarring every time I hear Lainey talk without her accent, but always entertaining: @laineywilsonNext tour stop: Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg ♬ original sound – Lainey Wilson The comment section was full of people from Boston and the New England area, and many of them seemed to approve and said Lainey did a really good job… of course, she struggled pronouncing Lake hence her caption “Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamauggp,” (apparently it’s actually called Lake Chaubunagungamaug according to Google… insane), but who the heck wouldn’t… I agree with Lainey, who came up with that? I actually laughed out loud at that part and I thought it was a joke too… “Nah that was more New York.” “You’re so darn adorable.” “You are so funny, Lainey.” “This made me laugh lol” “Pretty good “I’m southern eastern Ma, here to say, yes, and great job lol.” “That’s good actually.” “You’re doing great sweetie.” “This is too good.” “‘Now who came up with that.'” “Her facial expressions when she said ‘Who came up with that.'” “Haha you did pretty good girl!” “As a Masshole, I love this in every way…. AAND you almost pronounced my hometown, Wu’bin’, the ‘right’ way.” “You did good! Almost could pass as a Bostonian! And us locals can pronounce it, but we just refer to it as ‘Webster Lake’ which is the town the lake is in.” “That’s hilarious.” “That was two different people.” “Honestly your pronunciation isn’t that far off!” She previously fooled fooled fans at Stagecoach with her Valley Girl accent, and one things’ for sure, Mrs. Lainey just isn’t herself without that beautiful Louisiana twang: @laineywilsonBritney West comin’ atcha from the streets of Stagecoach ♬ original sound – Lainey Wilson The post Lainey Wilson Does Her Best Boston Accent & It’s Actually Quite Jarring first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
