“Somehow This Is Garth’s Fault” – Garth Brooks Jokes Fly After Tom Segura And His Wife, Christina P., Reportedly Separate
Garth claiming another victim?
It was revealed yesterday that comedian Tom Segura and his wife, Christina Pazsitzky, have reportedly separated after 18 years of marriage.
According to TMZ, the co-hosts of the Your Mom’s House podcast split within the last couple of months and the separation is “amicable.” The couple have two sons, and co-founded their YMH Studios podcast network together back in 2012.
They’re reportedly planning to continue their podcast together despite the separation.
Well immediately after the news went viral, jokes began popping up blaming…country music superstar Garth Brooks for the divorce.
According to one comment on Facebook:
“Somehow this is Garth Brooks fault.”
Now, what does the “Friends in Low Places” singer have to do with any of this? Well Segura is, of course, the entire reason that Garth has to lock his Instagram comments now, after the comedian started an insanely viral internet meme that the country singer is actually a serial killer with bodies buried in his backyard.
In case you’re not familiar with the joke’s origin, here’s a quick summary:
Back in 2018, Segura and Christina began discussing Brooks’ announcement of his upcoming stadium tour at the time and his admittedly weird Facebook posts.
After watching a clip of Brooks discussing the tour and pondering what was going through his head, Segura dropped the line that forever changed comment sections while discussing the “Callin’ Baton Rouge” singer:
“What he’s thinking about is all the bodies he’s got stacked in graves in his yard, for sure… He’s probably killed 200-300 people in his life.”
It all started back in 2018 when Segura and his wife, fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky, hosts of the Your Mom’s House podcast, stumbled upon the downright hysterical announcement video for Garth’s Stadium Tour. It’s the creepy one where he said he wanted to “get physical playing music” and how much he “likes that.” Yeah, that one.
Thanks to that video, Tom and Christina P came to the (inevitable, really) conclusion that Garth must be a serial killer with somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-300 bodies buried in his yard:
“What he’s thinking about is all the bodies he’s got stacked in graves in his yard, for sure… He’s probably killed 200-300 people in his life.”
And the rest was history.
Thanks to an internet joke, Garth Brooks, the Country Music Hall of Famer, one of the greatest live acts in country music history, selling out professional football stadium after professional football stadium, had his entire comment section on Instagram and Twitter hijacked by the rabid following of two hilarious comedians.
And it’s gone on for YEARS.
Not only are the comments on all of Garth’s posts, but any post that mentions him is inevitably flooded by jokes begging Garth to give the families closure and finally reveal the location of the bodies that he has buried in his backyard.
And it’s pretty much been confirmed that Garth isn’t a fan of Segura or the jokes, after the comedian revealed that Garth blocked him on Instagram:
“First I got word about a year ago from a 100% reliable source… I was like, ‘Does he know?’ And they’re like ‘Oh yeah, yeah. He knows.’ And I was like, ‘Is he upset?’
And they’re like, ‘He just doesn’t get it. Doesn’t know why you’re talking about him. I was like, ‘Okay.’
And then recently… he just blocked me on Instagram. And I was like, oh, he finally blocked me.”
But that’s not all: Segura has also been told that any time somebody brings it up, Garth will pull out the famous video of Segura taking a nasty fall playing basketball and tell them it’s “karma” for everything Tom has said about him.
It kinda feels a little bit out of character for Garth, who always comes across super likable and kind, but apparently the jokes are getting to him:
“And another person told me, this person said to me that they heard from a reliable source that when my name comes up to him, that he on his phone shows the video of me playing basketball and falling, and he goes, ‘Karma.’
I was like, that’s f—in’, pretty amazing. That a serial killer is finding it in their heart to say ‘Karma’ to the other person.
This man has, I mean, people are saying this man is responsible for hundreds of missing people and he’s gonna say that it’s karma?”
You’ve gotta admit, that’s pretty funny.
But naturally, as soon as the news of the split between Segura and his wife became public, the Garth Brooks jokes started flying on Twitter and Facebook:
