Black Voters Shout Down Talarico At Campaign Event: ‘Suffer The Consequences’
While his leftist agenda and questionable grasp on the Scriptures have drawn considerable backlash from conservative voters in the Lone Star State, U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico is also taking flak from typically reliable Democrat blocs.
Most recently, a group of such critics gathered at a campaign event to air their grievances.
As The Hill reported:
Video from the event captured by the Austin American-Statesman’s Faith Bugenhagen shows a Black woman yelling, “So you stay here, you answer our questions or you suffer the consequences.”
Other attendees clapped in support of the woman’s remarks, while one man said, “Say it with your chest.”
When Talarico told the woman he appreciated her for traveling to attend the town hall, she replied, “I did it for my people, not for you.” The Democratic candidate said that was “wonderful,” while rallygoers murmured about her comment.
While Talarico defeated Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) in March’s Democratic primary by more than 6 points, the latter won counties with large shares of Black voters — such as Harris County, which includes Houston, and Dallas County.
The tense exchange attracted some social media attention:
Does anyone else find it odd that the Democrats "go to" EVERY time they don't like a policy is "Jim Crow, Jim Crow, Jim Crow," especially since the Jim Crow laws were written and enforced by DEMOCRATS!!!!

“Pressed” kind of implies there was an actual substantive question instead of a bunch of screaming for no damn reason

Talerico is not going to get the support of minorities. I’m Latin X and he gives me the icks.

Here’s some additional coverage, via Newsweek:
According to remarks from Talarico quoted in the Houston Defender, Sunday afternoon’s town hall was intended to provide Houstonians with the opportunity to ask questions of the campaign while hearing more about the lawmaker’s plan to confront “Big Money and corruption” in D.C.
Talarico added that Black Texans—a group he failed to sway despite winning the Democratic primary in March—were a particular focus. According to The New York Times, U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett—who ran against Talarico in the primary—secured over 86 percent of the votes from predominantly Black areas. Talarico, meanwhile, safely won the white and Latino vote, securing a 53 percent to 46 percent victory in the overall contest.
“We’re hoping to connect directly with Black Texans across the Houston area,” Talarico said ahead of the town hall. “We’ve seen just in the last year an unprecedented attack on Black Texans, whether it’s the attack on voting rights, the attack on public education, the attack on health care, or HBCUs [historically Black colleges and universities].”
