He just keeps making hits. This week, Morgan Wallen scored his 21st #1 single on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with “Don’t We,” according to Billboard. It was written by Morgan Wallen along with Ryan Vojtesak (Charlie Handsome), Ashley Gorley, Rocky Block, Blake Pendergrass, and John Byron. Of course, it was included on his record-breaking 2025 album I’m the Problem, and it also makes history as the seventh Country Airplay #1 from that album, becoming the “first set to have spun off that many leaders via only an original version.” The only other artist to come close was of course Luke Combs, who did it with his What You See Is What You Get album, that between both the original release and the deluxe edition, totaled seven #1s between 2019-21. The other hits from I’m the Problem included “20 Cigarettes,” “I Got Better,” “Just in Case,” the title track, “Love Somebody” and “Lies Lies Lies,” which kicked off the run in November of 2024. He also managed to beat his own record of six #1s from his 2023 album, One Thing at a Time. Of course, I’m the Problem as a whole has been a massive hit, leading the Top Country Albums chart for 45 weeks, which started during its debut week in May of last year. And since he is now sitting at 21 country hits, he joins rare company in terms of other country artists who also have 21+ Country Airplay began in January 1990, including Kenny Chesney (33), Blake Shelton (30), Tim McGraw (29), Jason Aldean (27), Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, George Strait (26 each), Thomas Rhett, Keith Urban and Wallen (21 each). Obviously, it’s been a heck of a run, and it seems like “Don’t We” will be the last single from I’m The Problem as Morgan eyes a new era of music. He released a new one, “Been By Now,” this past Friday, and during one of his shows in Michigan this past weekend, Morgan confirmed that he’s been making a “lot of music” that he’s excited about, though he’s “not really sure” what he’s going to do next: “It’s a little bittersweet, ’cause we’re getting close to the end of this tour. [It’s] kinda the end of this album’s era, I guess you could say. I ain’t really sure exactly what I’m gonna do next, but I do know that I’ve been in the studio. I’ve been making a lot of music. I’m excited about it.” Additionally, Wallen gave insight about “Been By Now” and the future of his music. After explaining that he knew he had a hit on his hand when he, Charlie Handsome, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, Rocky Block and Taylor Phillips wrote it, the Tennessee native would note that he wanted to base his next album around the track. “The day we wrote this song, I kinda had a good feeling about it. I wanted to base a lot of my next stuff around it. I’m glad this day is here finally.” Given the fact that “Been By Now” sees Wallen leaning in even harder into pop and his producer, Charlie Handsome, recently going on record saying he wants to turn the “Last Night” singer into a full-blown pop star, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on as his fifth album begins to form in the coming months.
