Get excited, Ragweed fans. As one of the cornerstones of the Red Dirt movement, Cross Canadian Ragweed has remained one of the most important country bands over the past three decades. Forming in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the mid-1990s, the group’s impact truly cannot be understated, influencing some of the brightest stars in the Texas and Oklahoma scene, such as Turnpike Troubadours, Koe Wetzel, Wyatt Flores, Parker McCollum, Shane Smith & the Saints and many more. Simply put, Ragweed caught fire early upon the release of their 1998 debut album, Carney. Throughout their career, the Oklahoman band released seven studio albums and three live albums, but sadly disbanded in 2010. Red Dirt fans were beyond heartbroken when the group broke up, and from a conversation with Cody Canada, it seemed there was no way in hell they would get back together, comparing their breakup to a divorce. Against all odds, 2025 proved to be nothing short of a miracle for the band. After making their long-awaited return to the stage in January at Mile 0 Fest in Key West, Florida, Ragweed dropped the bombshell and announced their grand reunion: “The Boys From Oklahoma” Concert series, a four-night experience in April, along with fellow Red Dirt legends, Turnpike Troubadours. This would later expand into a “Texas Encore” edition of the reunion, which included Shane Smith & The Saints, Wade Bowen and more in August. With so much momentum heading into 2026, Ragweed announced another two “Boys From Oklahoma” shows: one “Cornhuskers Edition” in the University of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium in August and one additional show in Stillwater at Boone Pickens Stadium to commemorate the one-year anniversary of their reunion in April. The crown jewel in terms of shows for the Oklahoma band, however, was none other than their first headlining gig at Red Rocks over the weekend, an achievement that Canada says was one of the main goals after their reunion last year. Unsurprisingly, Ragweed went all out at the iconic venue, packing their 20+ song set with fan-favorites such as “Boys From Oklahoma,” “17,” “Alabama,” “Sick and Tired,” “Constantly” and more to the sold-out crowd. The biggest surprise of the night, however, came midway through the set when Canada took to the stage solo and debuted a brand new song in honor of his friend and mentor, the late, great Todd Snider, who tragically passed away last November following a battle with pneumonia. Prefacing the new track, the frontman would explain that Snider, along with Merle Haggard and Mike McClure, were the three people who inspired him the most to pursue music. Additionally, he’d note that he wrote the song as a tribute during the late legend’s final days while he and Jamie Lin Wilson were awaiting the news on Snider’s health. “There’s about three people in my life that made me do this for a living, and one is Merle Haggard… Mike McClure is the other one that’s still with me today. The other one is my buddy who I mentioned earlier, Todd Snider. I knew that it was coming. I got a good friend named Jamie Lin Wilson, and her and I were tracking. We knew what was going on and what was coming. We were getting ready for the news, and I wrote this tune. I was in a spot where I couldn’t write. But Todd Snider, for his last act for me, inspired me to write a song for him. This is for my friend.” As Canada explained, the track, which is presumably titled “Glad I Ran Into You, is a beautiful tribute to Snider and his music. Noting how his music found him like a new friend, he reminisces about their friendship and the impact he had on him as an artist. “You came in with both guns blazing  Most amazing thing that I’ve never seen before That point forward, nothing was boring I wasn’t working for them anymore And I hit blacktop, looking for something Like that one thing that kept me wanting more and more Then it found me like a new friend Said ‘Buddy, come on in. There ain’t no wondering anymore’ Never thought I’d be doing what I do There’s a great big world we’re walking through I’m glad I ran into you” As of now, “Glad I Ran Into You” does not have a release date.
