The report says the Palestinian police force would be vetted and deployed only in areas transferred to the new administration. Hamas members who comply would be eligible for amnesty, while armed anti-Hamas militias would also be dismantled. Two U.S. officials told the outlet that Hamas had agreed to the terms, although Israeli officials and Western diplomats remain skeptical that the terrorist organization will actually follow through. The formal signing and the verification process are therefore critical. That skepticism is earned.
