MEDIA. The left-wing newspaper Dagens Nyheter receives criticism after reporting from the trial against Kyle Rittenhouse and lying about what happened when the jury's decision was delivered.

"Eighteen-year-old Rittenhouse showed no reaction when the verdict was read out and then left the courtroom as soon as the judge allowed it," DN reported in its article on the incident.

The incorrect information is in line with how DN and other left-wing newspapers have previously described Rittenhouse as an icy racist who does not shy away from murdering law-abiding left-wing activists. But in fact, Kyle Rittenhouse broke down when the jury's decision was announced. He also did not leave the courtroom, as DN claimed, but remained in his place while his lawyers tried to calm him down.

DN journalist Clas Svahn tells the Twitter profile Grisbrottaren that the incorrect information was only online "for a short while before we saw that he broke down and cried". Since then, according to DN, it must have been right all evening.

However, the newspaper has not been able to explain how the incorrect information ended up in DN.

One of those who thinks that the newspaper should explain itself is SvD's former lead writer Ivar Arpi, now an independent right-wing debater at Substack.

"Has anyone from DN responded to the criticism regarding their misleading article about Kyle Rittenhouse?", Arpi writes on Twitter.

At 4.30 pm on Saturday, DN had not yet managed to present an explanation for how the false statement ended up in the newspaper, or why it was corrected in secret instead of adding a clear correction to the article.
