‘Leave Me Alone’: Billie Eilish Blasts Variety For ‘Outing’ Her
Billie Eilish went viral after she blasted Variety magazine for “outing” her and called on the outlet to leave her alone.

“Thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters‚” Eilish captioned her post. “I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares.”

At the event on Saturday‚ the magazine’s reporter asked the singer if she had intended to “come out” in the article.

“No I didn’t‚” Eilish replied. “But I kind of thought‚ ‘Wasn’t it obvious?’… I didn’t realize people didn’t know.”
“I just don’t really believe in it‚” she added of the idea of “coming out.” “I’m just like‚ ‘Why can’t we just exist?’ I’ve been doing this for a long time‚ and I just didn’t talk about it. Whoops.”

In last month’s issue‚ the “Everything I Wanted” hitmaker talked about her attraction to women.
“I love [women] so much‚” Eilish said. “I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.”
“I have deep connections with women in my life‚ the friends in my life‚ the family in my life‚” she added. “I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”
Eilish burst onto the music scene when she was 13 when her song “Ocean Eyes” went viral on SoundCloud. As she rose to stardom‚ she faced media stories about her looks‚ who she was dating‚ and her sexuality.
She’s called the scrutiny “weird and upsetting” and said it led her to wear baggy clothes to hide her body from the world.
“I wasn’t trying to have people not sexualize me‚” Eilish previously told the outlet. “But I didn’t want people to have access to my body‚ even visually. I wasn’t strong enough and secure enough to show it. If I had shown it at that time‚ I would have been completely devastated if people had said anything.”
“I’ve never felt like a woman‚ to be honest with you‚” she added. “I’ve never felt desirable. I’ve never felt feminine. I have to convince myself that I’m‚ like‚ a pretty girl.”
