Don't Get Rid of Old Wheat
We took a can of old wheat and decided to see if it would grow some fresh fodder grass for our chickens. To my surprise‚ the germination rate was outstanding. One really cool thing about sprouting grain to feed to our animals as fodder is that you can quadruple the feed just by adding water and letting it grow for a few days. Not to mention the increase in nutrition. The more nutritious the feed‚ the better the quality of eggs. Don't be too quick to throw out wheat even if you don't want to eat it. It can be a valuable food source. Exchange some wheat with your neighbors to get some fresh eggs. Wheat is one food storage item that holds value over the long run. I got these great microgreen trays from Bootstrap Farmer https://shrsl.com/4dqer They also had light and blackout domes that can be helpful with maintaining moisture and sprouting.
