Ukrainian authorities say Ukrainian soldiers who defended Snake Island are believed to be alive after all.

The 13 border guards on the island were defending the Ukrainian-owned rocky Snake Island in the Black Sea from air and naval bombardment and have reportedly refused in sniffing when a Russian naval warship officer asked them to surrender.

The Ukrainian authorities reported that all 13 soldiers were killed when they refused to surrender. However, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service said in a recent statement that they strongly believe that all the Ukrainian defenders of the island may still be alive.
