FOREIGN. Russia is now rationing basic goods and limiting people's ability to build up stocks to resell on the black market, reports AFP. The measure is announced after the Western world's harsh sanctions have begun to be felt in the country.

The price of basic goods such as bread, rice, flour, eggs and selected meat and dairy products is regulated in Russia and is not subject to inflation.

On the other hand, traders have discovered that individuals buy out large quantities of basic goods in order to resell them black - at illegally high prices.

The Russian Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture are now supporting a proposal from the industry to limit the sale of basic goods for a while. How much will be included in each person's ration is unclear.
