Why Kingdoms?
- Nebuchadnezzar's interest lay in politics, the realm of nations and armies and rulers. So that's what this prophecy covers —the political history of the world from Nebuchadnezzar's time right down to the end of the world. Of course, God is interested in much more than political history: He's concerned about the religious realms on earth, because that determines the people's eternal destiny. And that's really what the rest of the prophecies in Daniel's book are about; Daniel 2 lays the foundation of history on which the other prophecies are built.
