The phenomenon of Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) has mystified and enthralled us ever since Raymond Moody wrote the book‚ Life after Life (1975)‚ in which he chronicled nearly 150 cases of an event that he termed as a NDE. Moody found that many people‚ who had recovered from a harrowing near-death episode involving a cardiac arrest‚ recounted a range of vivid‚ transcendental experiences of an alternate reality‚ which simply cannot be explained by rational scientific means. For many‚ the NDE had an immensely transformative effect on their personality‚ bringing about a dramatic change in their attitudes and beliefs.
