EU intervenes in French election - accuses Le Pen of economic crimes

FOREIGN. Left-wing activists at the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) are now accusing Marine Le Pen and some colleagues of using EU funds for their own purposes.


In total, it is about 600,000 euros that should have been embezzled according to the information that will be released shortly before the second round of the French presidential election.

The French news site Mediapart has received the new EU report where it is alleged that Le Pen and some colleagues have embezzled around 600,000 euros in EU money.

Le Pen's lawyer Rodolphe Bosselut rejects the accusation and criticizes the EU body for deliberately releasing the information now to influence the outcome of the French presidential election.
