Many of your intelligent people, the scribes, were My and His enemies... because of their evil... and their jealousy hindered Us to start Our real kingdom of God on earth in those days. They rejected Him and demanded from Pontius Pilate that He would crucify the Innocent True Mashiach in His days. So he gave them their evil wish, while he washed his hands... as a symbol of the fact, that He was not responsible for the cruel death of that "Innnocent king of The Jews".
