It was all these women running around with curlers in their hair‚ playing the piano‚ vocalizing. It was a beehive of activity. Her friend Ellie helped Burnett get settled in and introduced her to the house mother‚ Miss Carlton‚ who assured the then-aspiring star she was in luck because one single cot was available. And it was in what they called the transit room‚ Burnett shared‚ which was on the first floor‚ and there were four other roommates in this one room.
