Åkesson wants to deploy the military: "We find ourselves at war"
Published 2024-04-12

While the political establishment has posed for the cameras in the Stockholm suburb of Skärholmen, where 39-year-old Mikael was shot in the head in front of his 12-year-old son on Wednesday, and has written on social media things like "it's terrible" and called for more leisure parks, SD now demands leader Jimmie Åkesson that the police list what they need to be able to effectively fight the gang criminals. He also does not rule out the possibility of deploying the military.

After the murder, the Sweden Democrats demand measures that go beyond the Tidö Agreement.

- The entire political leadership in the country needs to send the signal that we are at war, that we are prepared to take that war and that we are prepared to do exactly what is required to win the war, says Åkesson to Aftonbladet .

He now wants national police chief Petra Lundh to inform the Tidö parties of the tools and changes in the law that are needed to fight back against gang criminals. Åkesson also states that in a situation like this one needs to disregard all political correctness and platitudes and dare to speak plainly. He also points to the obvious connection between development and mass immigration.

In the past, the SD leader has said that Sweden may have to deviate from international conventions in order to be able to effectively combat the imported violence - for example the refugee convention. He has also suggested being able to tear up citizenship as a measure.

Deploy the military
Another measure he would like to see is the military patrolling the streets and squares.

- Other parties have also approached it, but then it has been more about supplementing the police. I think we may have passed that now and it is rather that we need the military on the streets as we see in other parts of Europe.
