another exciting DNA Solve
"LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Louisville Metro detectives are crediting a new partnership with helping track down the suspect in the brutal attack of a woman found dead last month.
The Louisville woman was a wife, mother and grandmother who was known for her kindness, relatives told WLKY.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, Nikki Solinger-Yost was sexually assaulted and strangled. One of her relatives found her body on April 18.
Then on Thursday, police announced they had arrested Jim Peters, 66, in connection with Solinger-Yost's murder. Solinger-Yost was Peters' landlord and had hired him to be the maintenance man for her rental properties.
Police said evidence inside the apartment was sent for testing and DNA identified Peters as the suspect. The testing that was conducted was part of a new partnership between the LMPD and DNA Labs International.
"I can tell you, sitting here right now we would still be sitting here, trying to find out who did this," said Maj. Matthew Meagher, with LMPD's Major Crimes Division."
