Paranoid former elite soldier behind murder of mother and child

The woman and the child who were murdered in Hägersten in Stockholm on Thursday were killed by the woman's paranoid little brother. The brother, who is 40 years old, was arrested on Sunday on probable cause on suspicion of the double murder.

It is at two o'clock on Thursday afternoon that the police and ambulance are alerted to a residential street in Hägersten in southern Stockholm. At the address, a dead woman in her 40s and her severely injured child in her fives are found. The child later dies in hospital.

Another child in the family, who managed to escape and get to safety, can point out the perpetrator - a 40-year-old uncle. The 40-year-old was arrested less than an hour after the double murder and arrested the same evening.

Paranoid and poisoning ideas
The 40-year-old man, a law-abiding former elite soldier at Musköbasen who lives in Uppsala, has spent most of his adult life cared for for a serious mental disorder. According to a verdict, he suffers from, among other things, "paranoid ideas and poisoning ideas" and has been the subject of forensic psychiatric care with special discharge testing as well as for psychiatric compulsory care.

The first prosecuted incident occurs when he, as a 25-year-old, is studying technical base year in Uppsala. During a lecture, he suddenly goes unprovoked to attack a fellow student. In a police interrogation, he accuses the school friend of having exposed him to a "mental battle" and claims that he "wanted to take something out of his brain".

When the friend's daughter turns 16 in the autumn of 2019, the 40-year-old shows up at the family's house uninvited, convinced that he is the daughter's real father.

Attacks police with iron candlestick
Two weeks after the teenage girl's birthday party, which the 40-year-old most unwelcomely raped, the police are alerted to the man's father. The son then stands inside the father's living room, armed with an iron candlestick.

- He stands all the time and stomps his feet and I experience him as very unstable, comments one of the police officers who goes on the alarm.

It takes four policemen equipped with helmets and shields to overpower the mentally ill man, who frantically tries to break free with the candlestick as a shelter.

It is the big sister who called the police about the threatening little brother. The father says in interrogation that the son will never forgive him for what happened. The penalty for the son will again be forensic psychiatric care.

Cut mom in the neck
According to a police interrogation, the 40-year-old must at one point also have cut his mother in the neck. According to the interrogation data, the incident must have occurred when he is 25 years old and has decided to go to France to launder gold.

When the mother goes to France to bring home the gold-dreaming son, he has a psychotic outburst and cuts her throat. The mother is sewn with seventeen stitches, but refrains from making a police report.

The 40-year-old is now in custody on probable cause on suspicion of having murdered his older sister and the sister's children.
