FOREIGN. The German government is expected to introduce a law on the wearing of masks in the winter to prevent the spread of infection. The law that is planned will apply between October and Easter, Welt writes.
From the autumn, the obligation to wear a mouth guard that covers both the nose and the mouth will be statutory in the winter, according to the proposal that is currently being investigated within the German Federal Government.
Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach sees the coercive measure as a way to deal with the spread of respiratory viruses during the winter, writes Welt.
The newspaper notes that the country previously has an established "October-to-Easter" rule for motorists when it comes to the regulation of winter tires, and in the future it is therefore intended that this time span will also be used when it comes to a general mask compulsion for those who move by foot.
Influenza and corona viruses include respiratory viruses.
