Tom Morello, Rage Against The Machine guitarist and social activist, will receive the Woody Guthrie Prize on September 25th at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK.  Morello, as well as fellow members of RATM, hold leftist political views. “I think (socialism is) a necessity, to save the planet,” stated Morello. Guthrie was an incredibly impactful and influential Folk writer/singer. The annual award recognizes a recipient who embodies the spirit of Guthrie’s social consciousness and musical legacy.
