27-year-old man is charged with rape of a child in Borås

A former teacher is charged on suspicion of child rape, sexual assault, child pornography and assault.

The crimes have been committed over several years against 15 students who had regular contact with the teacher at a primary school in Borås. The indictment covers around 30 charges.

The police have conducted around 80 interviews with the vulnerable children, their parents, school staff and others concerned.

- It is a very extensive case where the investigative work has been going on for more than a year and has grown as new information has come in, says District Attorney Andreas Lennartsson, who is the head of the preliminary investigation.

In addition to the oral accounts, the evidence includes a number of confiscated telephones, certain image material secured from mobile phones, certain excerpts from SMS conversations and notes from journals.

- Rape and crimes against children are serious and serious crimes with major consequences for those who are exposed, says Erik Brattelius, responsible investigator at the police unit for serious crimes in the Älvsborg police area.

The suspect has so far made several admissions. He has been in custody since the summer of 2022 and has been suspended from school since the summer of 2021.
