We hear a lot about the big generations—boomers, Gen X, millennials, Gen Z and the up-and-coming Gen Alpha. But there are folks within those generations who are in-betweeners, sometimes called "cuspers," members of microgenerations that straddle two of the biggies. "Xennial" has become a common term for those who fall on the cusp of Gen X and millennial. But there's a lesser-known microgeneration that straddles Gen X and the baby boomers. The folks born from 1955 to 1964 are known as Generation Jones, a term coined in 1999 by writer and television producer Jonathan Pontell, who
