Alice Cooper initially emerged as a band from Phoenix, Arizona, in 1964, originally called “The Earwigs,” and later known as “The Spiders” before finally adopting the name Alice Cooper. The name Alice Cooper was chosen to sound innocuous and wholesome, in stark contrast to the band’s dark themed music and image.
