Drone Footage Captures Mysterious Creature in Lake Champlain

Two enthusiasts Richard Rossi and Kelly Tabor came to Lake Champlain, on the border of the United States and Canada, to film a film about the local analogue of Nessie – a lake monster named Champ. On August 11, 2024, they flew a drone over the lake to film their boat from above. And the drone suddenly photographed a large dark spot nearby. This spot moved slowly and purposefully, as if something alive was actually swimming there, rhythmically paddling with its flippers. The spot was about the size of the researchers’ boat. Unfortunately, they noticed this creature only after viewing the footage, so they did not continue to film this section of the lake from above. Previously, the most impressive evidence of Champ’s existence was a photograph taken in 1977. It shows some kind of creature floating on the water with a very long neck, similar to an ancient aquatic plesiosaur lizard. Rossi and Tabor believe they were lucky to photograph Champa: “We discovered Champ by chance while watching drone footage. It’s real footage, not fake at all,” says Kelly Tabor. “We wanted to take some picturesque shots of the lake and we never expected to capture anything like this. We just couldn’t believe our eyes. I’m thrilled to be sharing this unexpected discovery with the world,” added Richard Rossi. According to some researchers of the unknown, Tabor-Rossi’s study became one of the most reliable pieces of evidence for the presence of a mysterious living creature in Lake Champlain.
