Zelenskyy postpones the counteroffensive: "We would lose a lot of people"

During the spring, there was a lot of talk in several places about Ukraine's counter-offensive, which was also claimed to have begun. But now the country's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces that it will be postponed indefinitely.
- We would lose many people. So we need to wait, says Zelensky.

The message from Zelenskyi comes just days after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Ukraine has both weapons and the necessary training to be able to push back Russia and regain all territories.

- They have everything needed in place to be able to regain territory occupied by Russia during the last 14 months, Blinken said at a press conference according to CNN .

Zelensky: "We need to wait"
In an interview on Thursday, a different message comes. Zelenskyy claims that Ukraine does have the capacity to take back ground after months of NATO training - but that more time is needed to prepare the counteroffensive.

Among other things, it is stated that there are no armored vehicles in the field.

- We would lose many people. I find that unacceptable. So we need to wait. We still need more time, Zelenskyy told the BBC .

The president also said that many people have an opinion about what Ukraine should do. He mentioned that some are proposing that Ukraine abandon the ground that has been lost.

- Everyone has an idea. But they cannot influence Ukraine to give up its territory. Why would any country in the world give Putin its territory, Zelensky asks.

EU: Without us, Ukraine will fall within days
The EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, has recently spoken out about the war and he says that there is no room for diplomatic talks on peace talks, only war. This is reported by Euronews .

- This is not the time for diplomatic talks about peace. This is the moment to militarily support the war, says Borrell.

The EU leader says that today he sees himself as the EU's "defense minister" and states that if the member states do not support, Ukraine will fall.

- If we do not support Ukraine, Ukraine will fall within a few days. I would prefer to spend this money on increasing the well-being of people, hospitals, schools, cities, etc. But we have no choice.

- If you want peace, pressure Russia to withdraw. Pressure Russia to stop the war. Don't tell me to stop supporting Ukraine, because if I stop supporting Ukraine, the war will definitely end soon, Borrell said .
