War-weary Bulgarians vandalized EU building

FOREIGN. In the Bulgarian capital Sofia, protesters threw red paint over and vandalized an official EU building on Sunday.

The demonstration of a thousand people was organized by several organizations and individuals who want an end to military support for the war in Ukraine.

Instead of escalation, they want to see peace negotiations.

Attendees included members of the EU- and NATO-critical Revival party, including MPs.

"Bulgaria is a zone of peace," read the protesters' message.

The American propaganda channel Radio Free Europe claims that the protesters were "pro-Kremlin" and notes that a Russian flag can be seen in a video of the demonstration train.

Several parties in Bulgaria have voted against sending military aid to Ukraine, claiming that such measures risk dragging their own country into a senseless war against Russia.
