A health clinic in Uppsala may have infected up to 200 people with syphilis. But the Infection Control Unit does not want to say how it happened.
- It is about a very strange sequence of events, says Johan Hedlund at the Infection Control Unit.

Recently, the Infection Control Unit in Region Uppsala sent out a request for testing for syphilis to nearly 200 people, all of whom are women. This is reported by SVT .

Johan Hedlund, head of the Infection Control Unit, says that the people who have received the invitation were patients last year at a care clinic in Region Uppsala.

- The hygiene routines have not been breached, but it is about a very strange sequence of events - that is as much as I can say now, says Johan Hedlund at the Infection Control Unit.

Region Uppsala also downplays the incident and states that it need not be serious.

- It doesn't have to be serious. We have to investigate the scope and degree of seriousness more closely and we follow the routines that exist for this type of event, says Mikael Köhler, director of health and medical care at SVT.
