Why is Europe letting them in
Tunisia refuses to be the EU's border guard - does not want to keep criminal Africans

Tunisia's President Kais Saied was noticed earlier this spring for his statements regarding the problems with African illegal migrants in the Arab country. Saied has warned that Tunisia is facing a population exchange and also said that the Africans are bringing violence and crime to the country. Now the president announces that Tunisia will not act as border protection for the EU to detain the migrants.
This weekend, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited the Arab Mediterranean country of Tunisia to discuss the wave of migrants to Europe.

Many African migrants cross to Europe from ports in Tunisia - including the city of Sfax. But Tunisian President Kais Saied has been clear to EU leaders that the country will not accept becoming a border protection for other countries.
- The solution will not come at the expense of Tunisia. We cannot be a gatekeeper for other countries, the president said.
At the same time, Tunisia has extensive economic problems and on Friday the country's credit rating was downgraded. Now the EU leaders are trying to charm Tunisia by offering over a billion euros to stabilize the economy and keep the border with Europe. It is reported by the British The Guardian .
Don't want Africans left
The number of illegal migrants either attempting or making it all the way across the Mediterranean continues to rise. According to Reuters , an even greater increase is seen after President Kais Saied's various statements that the country is tired and must act against mass immigration from the rest of Africa.
According to the president, it is urgent to deal with the "hordes" of illegal immigrants arriving from sub-Saharan Africa, which he says are a source of violence, crime and "unacceptable acts" in the country.
The president has also warned that Tunisia is turning into a "only African" country and that mass immigration could change its "Arab-Muslim" character. That is why they are now rejecting Africans, something that has upset pro-migration groups who say it is about racism.
He also claimed that illegal migration is a "criminal enterprise hatched at the beginning of this century to change the demographic composition of Tunisia".
- The undeclared goal of the successive waves of illegal immigration is to consider Tunisia as a purely African country that has no connection to the Arab and Islamic nations, the president said
