Paul Kengor on Mark Levin: “No Republican Ever Did What Ted Kennedy Did.”

The American Spectator editor Paul Kengor appeared on the nationally syndicated Mark Levin Show to discuss Russian hoaxes and interference, such as Sen. Ted Kennedy’s scandalous letter to Soviet leader Yuri Andropov in 1983 — a prime example of Russian collusion by the Left and ignored by the media. (READ MORE: The Kremlin’s Dupe: Ted Kennedy’s Russia Romance)  Kengor revealed to Levin a secret letter by Kennedy to then-Russian KGB leader Andropov, looking for ways to “counter the militaristic politics of Reagan,” who was highly favored to win the upcoming 1984 presidential election. The offer was then made for Kennedy to meet with Soviet leaders in Moscow, along with arranged televised interviews. “This strategy to influence Americans, especially with the election coming up — this would be a crucial thing to do in order to counter Reagan,” Kengor told Levin.  The letter was later revealed and reported in the London Times in 1992, 17 years prior to Kennedy’s death. “Did the media denounce Ted Kennedy for his treason?” Levin asked Kengor.  “Crickets. Not a word,” Kengor told Levin.  Levin then mentioned the Left’s attacks on Donald Trump and his cabinet picks, accusing them of Russian collusion. He asked Kengor, “Is there any nominee that Donald Trump has proposed that has done anything of the kind that Ted Kennedy did?”  “The equivalent to this today,” Kengor told Levin, “would be a Republican senator in the spring of 2023 secretly contacting the head of the Russian KGB (today called the FSB) with a confidential offer from Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin to undermine Joe Biden’s 2024 election bid.”  Kengor’s appearance on Levin’s show aired on Dec. 16, 2024.
