Charles Wesley Godwin Teases Powerful Unreleased Song, “Street Advice”
Charles Wesley Godwin adding to his "straight out of the notebook" series.
The great thing about that specific collection is that the songs that are included tend to pop up again when the West Virginia native gets around to releasing an album. And just recently, CWG stopped by the Grand Ole Opry and teased new music in the form of an EP. He had this to say just before he broke into a new song:
“Recorded an EP throughout the course of the year, so I’m going to have some new music coming out early next year. This is one of those new ones, it’s called ‘It’s The Little Things.'”

New music from CWG in early 2025? COME ON WITH IT.
Not only do we have the official studio version of that song to look forward to, we've also got another teaser for an unreleased song that Godwin is calling "Street Advice." The country music artist posted the video to his social media accounts earlier today, and strummed through yet another beautiful song (and what I feel comfortable calling a lyrical masterpiece).
Charles Wesley Godwin has to be one of the most underrated songwriters in modern country music, and if you need to be convinced, just read through the storytelling that "Street Advice" has to offer:
"Advice from a stranger you should take with a grain of salt
Son I ain't no stranger to that split tongue devil's talk
I can tell from your expression, there's hurt behind that smile
I've been in your shoes, I've walked every single mile
Dancing on the dark side with a heavy cross to bear
Entertaining heaven sent angels unaware
No matter where I went I was completely incomplete
Only love can make bitter bittersweet
Just advice from a stranger on the street."
Seriously... show me someone that's crafting more profound lyrics in 2024 - and soon to be 2025. Godwin has a gift for weaving together a story of a song, and he's always got the emotional vocals to back it up. Tune into any of his albums and you'll hear much of the same, and just to let you know, that aspect of his talent really comes to life when you see him live in concert. I'm not sure who the best artist in country music is, and it's obviously a rather subjective a conversation, but hell if Charles Wesley Godwin doesn't make a good argument for it every single time he picks up a guitar.
But before I keep going on and on (and on and on) about how great Charles Wesley Godwin is, I'll direct you to the teaser he shared - which actually seems to be the full song - showcasing the unreleased "Street Advice."
As I mentioned earlier, he grabbed this one right from his trusty notebook and shared it with the world:
"Straight out of the notebook. Tom Douglas, Scooter Caruso and I wrote this last week. Enjoy!"
