They could measure up to 58.7 feet or higher, making it about three times as large as the biggest sharks we have today. That’s because the word derives from Greek, giving it the meaning of “giant tooth.” But its size was not enough to survive the world’s changes throughout the years. It’s said that the megalodon went extinct an estimated 2.5 million years ago. So why, then, are we still finding their teeth? Why Is It Possible to Still Find a Megalodon Tooth on a Beach? There are a few reasons why we’re still lucky enough to find these teeth. For starters, sharks frequently shed their teeth. Like, a lot. Thousands over the course of their life, in fact.
