Chick-fil-A Changes Its Iconic Waffle Fry Recipe & Diners Aren’t Happy

If you’ve had a batch of Chick-fil-A fries lately, you may have noticed they taste and feel a little different. The fast-food chain announced on its website that it altered the famous recipe so the fries would “stay crispier, longer.” To do that, Chick-fil-A coated its waffle fries in pea starch. While the statement claims the fries “have the same great taste,” diners disagree. “They added this P protein according to their website so they don’t get soggy,” fashion influencer Daryl-Ann Denner said, according to Southern Living. “But now they just taste gross.” “One of my New Year’s resolutions is to somehow convince @chickfila to return their fries back to normal,” she noted. People Are Begging Chick-fil-A To Bring Back The Old Waffle Fries Daryl-Ann’s opinion seems to be unanimous. Beginning on December 23rd, fans began flooding social media comment sections with pleas to bring back Chick-fil-A’s original waffle fries. “I love soggy fries,” one diner commented on an unrelated post. “Please, we are begging you.” “Pleeeeeease with the fries!” someone begged. “So glad to see so many comments. The change is bad. So bad. We’d rather have soggy than whatever this is.” “Your new fries are terrible. I can’t even eat them anymore and they were my favorite thing. Please go back!” wrote another. Many people said they or their children could no longer eat the side because of allergies, and some even claimed the pea protein coating made the fries rock hard and inedible. In a statement to Southern Living, the restaurant once again claimed that the new ingredient does not change the taste. But fans of the old recipe strongly disagree. “They used to be my favorite snack,” Daryl-Ann told the publication. “Whether or not I was getting a meal, I would get fries and a large Diet Coke. Now, I order my entree and don’t get a fry. They are dry, grainy, and have no flavor anymore. My kids won’t even eat them.” This story’s featured image is by Summer_Wind via Shutterstock.
