AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme announced as future Steam Deck processor
The AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme is official. AMD has taken the wraps off its highly anticipated mobile gaming CPU that is potentially set to power future versions of the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go, and it looks set to bring big gains in gaming performance and battery life.
The follow-up to the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme that already powers the Asus ROG Ally X and Lenovo Legion Go, AMD has also revealed the new processor will be used in future versions of those devices as well as future Steam Deck devices, such as a possible Steam Deck 2. That would make for a huge upgrade for the new Steam Deck, as the current unit already uses an older, less powerful chip.
