Georgia Woman Who Thought She Was Talking To Alan Jackson Scammed Out Of $3,000 In Apple Gift Cards

This Georgia woman was not having a "Good Time" after she found out she wasn't talking to the real Alan Jackson. Just so we can set the record straight here: country music legend Alan Jackson is never going to ask you for money. Under any circumstance. If Jackson ever needed money, he'd probably reach into the 21-number-one-hits fund. The real Alan Jackson would never be strapped for cash and ask you for help... but the fake Alan Jackson probably would. But one Georgia woman couldn't grasp that, and now she's out a couple thousand dollars because of it. The 76-year-old woman in Columbia County sent over $3,000 in Apple gift cards to a scammer that was posing as the 66-year-old country music star. The person posing as Jackson was communicating with the woman and telling her that he was in need of money in order to pay bills. Why would Alan Jackson need help paying his bills? The scammer that was assuming the role of the country music star stated that his assets were frozen as he was in the midst of a divorce. The woman was posting about her "relationship" with Alan Jackson and how she was helping him on Facebook - for everyone to see. And plenty of people were seeing it, to the point where one concerned friend reported her posts to the local sheriff's department. That's when the authorities intervened late last month and further questioned the Georgia woman. She told them that she had been sending money to the country music star - but had never met or talked to him - since June of 2024. It all started when she posted a message about Jackson's health on her Facebook page, which prompted a scammer who said they were Jackson's manager "Baker" to get the woman "in contact with" Alan Jackson (the fake one). Let's go over some of the red flags from the story and provide some very easy ways to debunk them, shall we? Alan Jackson in the Midst of Divorce: Alan married his high school sweetheart, Denise, in 1979. They've been happily together ever since, and nowhere online can you find reports that they are getting divorced. Alan Jackson's Manager Baker: Alan's longtime manager is named Debbie Doebler. Alan Jackson Asking a Random Person for Money: HE WOULDN'T EVER! COME ON PEOPLE! AND IN APPLE GIFT CARDS? THAT MAKES NO SENSE! The moral of the story here is to make sure you keep an eye out for scammers in this day and age, and especially keep an eye out on behalf of some of our older loved ones. Scammers often single out lonely people, so if you know someone vulnerable in your life that also happens to like Alan Jackson, keep a close eye on them. And remember that celebrities aren’t ever going to ask regular people for money... they've got plenty of it. And if you think this doesn't happen often, you'd be wrong. Back in July of 2024, a story about a Massachusetts woman sending a fake Vince Gill over $350,000 was shared. That "Vince Gill" was also asking for money as he went through a divorce... https://twitter.com/OfficialJackson/status/1555638742370615296
