Recently, fans of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, gathered in Graceland to celebrate what would have been the artist’s 90th birthday. This event was part of the annual Graceland Elvis birthday celebration in Memphis, which started on Monday and will continue through the week. Key speakers at the event include the CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Jack Soden, and the City of Memphis Mayor Paul Young. The Mayor acknowledged Elvis’ position as the king of Rock ‘n’ Roll and his huge influence on the city of Memphis. It featured a large birthday cake, and Memphis and Shelby County Officials did the honors of proclaiming Elvis Presley Day. The birthday cake and coffee were served at Vernon’s Smokehouse, and the 90 for 90 exhibit opened. This exhibit featured 90 curated artifacts that show key moments in Elvis’s professional and personal journey. At 1pm, guests met at the Guest House Ballroom to play games and then had dinner at the Jungle Room Bar. More than one billion of his records have sold worldwide, making his the highest in industry history. Among these, 40 of them made it to the top 10, while 18 held the number one spot for weeks. Even in death, Elvis remains a legend who relevance resounds across generations.
