“This Is A Film About A Boy From Oklahoma” – Zach Bryan Calls Upon Matthew McConaughey To Announce New Film Project, “Motorbreath”

Zach Bryan and Matthew McConaughey teaming up again? Alright, alright, alright. Country music fans woke up this morning to a surprise audio file posted onto Bryan's Instagram account. Now this isn't an uncommon occurrence. The singer-songwriter has kind of made it his thing to post teasers for new music and/or new projects online... if only for a matter of hours. Bryan goes back and deletes clips he's shared almost as much as he deactivates his social media accounts entirely. And it's usually a guarantee that the teasers he shares (in the form of a screen recorded voice memos) are songs that eventually find themselves on his next album, or released as a single onto a streaming service days later. Just yesterday, Bryan shared two different teasers. First was a clip of him performing a new song from a makeshift studio titled "With Heaven on Top." Then, later in the day, he used the trusty ol' voice recording once again and gave everyone another snippet of a song, which you can listen to below: https://www.instagram.com/p/DE1b8y7uGyH/ I was going to say "Between the Bars" would be the title for that one, but Bryan is quite literally referencing another song by artist Elliot Smith that has that exact name. So I guess we'll have to wait and see what that one becomes (thought that one was pretty catchy, if I'm being honest). That gets us caught up to early this morning, when the Oklahoma native shared yet another video on his Instagram. Most clicked on it fully expecting it to be another partial song reveal, potentially titled "Motorbreath" since that is what Zach Bryan included as the caption. However, when you listen to it, you actually hear the smooth-talking, country-twang of Matthew McConaughey. Unexpected, without a doubt. And this time around, Bryan doesn't appear to be announcing a new song, or a new album. Based on what McConaughey says in the recording, it sounds like country music fans will be getting a documentary-style film about Bryan and his friends traveling the country and putting together his final major label album: "This is not a film about a band, this is a film about a boy from Oklahoma. A boy who joined the Navy, with a love of writing. That writing connected with people, a lot of people. This film is about a group of best friends taking a two-week motorcycle ride across America, while recording one final major label album. Oh, and the title of the film you ask? 'Motorbreath.'" https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE121T3RKHX/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=ff7f6288-4e13-433a-a7cf-7c4a523f4685 Zach Bryan is making feature films now? What can this man not do? As of right now, that's all the information we have on the project. No release date and no additional details have been provided. Not even a confirmation that Bryan has finished the album that this movie will be based upon, though one could assume the record is finished if the country star is already teasing a movie about its creation. It's also safe to say that Motorbreath is a good bet for the title of his next album. When he first teased "High Road," the caption simple read "Motorbreath." It does seem like Bryan has been busy as of late as he's somewhat stepped out of the spotlight following his public breakup with Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry. Maybe that split expedited this new album and the movie that was apparently created around it? Time will tell, and all signs point towards this next big thing being Zach's last while working with Warner Records. Let's be honest, Zach doesn't need a record label anyways... And it's great to see Bryan and Matthew McConaughey working together again, as the movie star first helped out the country artist by starring in the memorable music video for his song "Nine Ball" last year.
