Sammy Hagar and Joe Bonamassa releases new single
The former Montrose and Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar teamed up with the influential Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa to record a stand-alone single called "Fortune Teller Blues". It was Hagar who sent Bonamassa a "rough idea of a blues song", according to the producer Kevin Sherley. “Sammy sent us this very rough idea of a blues song while Joe and I were in a studio in Greece, and we crafted a raw, edgy blues version to go with it. At times, it carries a haunting energy, and at others, it evokes the spirit of the New Orleans French Quarter."
"Joe was in a particularly gritty mood and played the entire track on an Ovation acoustic guitar plugged into an overdriven amplifier, producing a chaotic, heavy, and almost eerie sound. We wanted to create a different kind of blues feel to complement the lyrics, and we’re all thrilled with how it turned out,” he said. Promoting the track, Hagar said: "Holy shit, the thing came out good... the track is a monster."

Lyrics via AZ Lyrics
I went to see a fortune teller
She only told me what not to do
Yeah, I went to see the fortune teller
She only told me what not to do
She said, "Stay away from that woman
She's evil and no good for you"
I went back to the fortune teller
"Can you please, tell me her name?"
Well, I went back to the fortune teller
I said, "Can you please, tell me her name?"
She said, "I think you already know her
What you don't know is why you came"
Yeah, "Why you came"
I said "Please, please, can you tell me
Can you tell me more?"
"Oh, can you please, please, please
Can you please, tell me more?"
She said, "It's two o'clock in the morning"
She pushed me away and shut the door
Oh, Lord! Shut the door
Oh, Lord! She shut the door
Now, I think it was the fortune teller
She would never tell me her name
Oh, I think it was the fortune teller
She would never tell me her name
Oh, Lord
And there's something about the future
Better left unknown than stay the same
Oh, Lord! Yeah
Oh, fortune teller
Oh
Whoa, yeah
Fortune teller
Fortune teller blues
Leave it alone
Leave it alone
Some things
Better left unknown
Oh yeah
Yeah, I should have known better
Damn
Should have known betterThe post Sammy Hagar and Joe Bonamassa releases new single appeared first on Rock and Roll Garage.
