Ex-minister: Britain could become “the first Islamist nation with nuclear weapons”

Iran has long been identified as the major threat to nuclear weapons falling into the hands of fundamentalist Islamist actors. Now, former British Home Secretary Suella Braverman is warning that as a result of high Muslim immigration, Britain could instead become “the first Islamist nation with nuclear weapons.”

According to Braverman, Britain could “fall into the hands of Muslim fundamentalism” and be governed in a manner similar to that of Iran, except that it would possess one of the world’s largest nuclear arsenals.

Not the first to raise concerns
Braverman issued the warning in a speech at the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation in Washington. She also mentioned that she is not alone or the first to express such concerns.

– Vice President JD Vance said at the National Conservative Conference, where I also spoke this summer, that Britain will be the first Islamist nation with nuclear weapons. I don't think he was kidding.

Looking 20 years into the future
The former British Home Secretary raised the question of whether in 20 years it might not be China or Russia that will emerge as the greatest strategic threat to the United States, but Britain.

– Born of a broken relationship and weak leadership; What happens if Britain falls into the hands of Muslim fundamentalism, our legal system is replaced with Sharia law, and our nuclear weapons capability is controlled by a regime not too dissimilar to that in Iran today? Shouldn’t we have the courage to ask these questions?

“Lying in ruins”
Braverman further characterized the relationship between the UK and the US under Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Labour as “in tatters.” This fact, she argued, increases the risk of an Islamist political development in the UK. However, it contrasts with the praise that Donald Trump, since his re-election as US president, has given Starmer as someone who has “done a very good job” in leading the UK.

Warnings of a similar political development have been raised in several countries, including Sweden, which have had Muslim immigration at a level that many call a “people’s exchange.” Even in Muslim circles, it has been accepted that an Islamist takeover of power is the ultimate goal and can occur without violence if the Muslim share of the population in the West becomes large enough to conquer power through parliamentary means.
