Government bans Onlyfans and sex purchases within relationships

Domestic. The government is implementing tough new criminalizations in the area of ​​privacy. It will now be a crime, among other things, to pay for sex within an established love relationship, such as a marriage, and to buy sexual images and video material on Onlyfans.
In a legislative council report, the government writes that the purpose of criminalizing financial transactions within longer-term sexual relationships is to tackle so-called sugar dating – economically unequal relationships where an often younger woman enters into a sexual relationship with a not infrequently older man with the aim of him providing for her.
The government claims that the change is small and that more typical forms of sugar dating are already criminalized today.
"Furthermore, even with today's regulations, it should be possible to convict for the purchase of sexual services that occur within the framework of a more permanent relationship or in so-called sugar dating when repeated cases of sex purchases occur," the government writes in the legislative council's report.
However, this does not correspond to practice, as one of the members of parliament behind the proposal, Kjell Jansson (M), was recently acquitted by prosecutors after Fria Tider revealed that he had engaged in sugar dating with repeated cases of buying sex from a Kurdish woman in her 25s.
Attunda District Court and Jönköping District Court also point out that the ban is new and that in practice it means that "every economically unequal relationship is criminalized", which, however, according to the government is not the intention. It will therefore be up to the economically weaker party to decide whether she or he wants to report the relationship afterwards.
Onlyfans purchases are prohibited
Another change is that anyone who pays for sex "at a distance" will be sentenced to prison in the future. The aim is, among other things, to access the purchase of material via webcam sites and sites such as Onlyfans, according to the government. The crime will be criminalized already at the experimental stage.
"For the requirement to be met in a distance case, it may be sufficient for the perpetrator, for example in a chat, to confirm that he or she is willing to pay for the other person to perform a certain sexual act," the government writes in its legal advice.
However, purchasing traditional and more commercial pornography that is produced for mass distribution will not be criminalized, because the person who purchases such pornography does not contribute sufficiently to someone choosing to "perform or tolerate a sexual act," as the text of the law states.
However, Minister of Gender Equality and Working Life Paulina Brandberg (L) believes that identification with Bank-ID should be required to access porn online, and wants to introduce a porn filter in all mobile phones to be able to identify porn surfers.
– These filters are not perfect, but they sort out a lot of the material we don't want children and young people to be exposed to. Of course, I hope they will continue to develop and become more accurate, but we still believe that it will be more difficult for children and young people to access porn sites, says Paulina Brandberg (L) to TV4.
