Wildlife Ecologist Shares Mesmerizingly Cute Footage Of What Bear Cubs Sound Like
Have you ever wondered what kinds of sounds a baby bear makes? Well, wildlife ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant shared a video on social media answering that very question. She recorded two bear cubs making the most adorable little noises in an absolutely precious clip. This woman clearly has one of the best jobs in the world!
In the footage, Dr. Wynn-Grant was holding a pair of small bear cubs in her arms. As they clung to her, the creatures began emitting the tiniest, most pitiful whines. Who knew that baby bears could sound so incredibly cute?

“Tired of holiday music?” the wildlife ecologist wrote over her clip. “Here’s the sound of wild bear cubs to lull you to sleep.”
After watching this video, many commenters were pretty jealous that Dr. Wynn-Grant got to cuddle these precious bear cubs!
“It’s so hard watching others have what you want,” wrote one user.
However, the wildlife expert explained in one of her replies that this was all part of her job. Apparently, she was keeping an eye on the little critters while their mother received a much-needed physical exam.
“I’m a wildlife biologist,” she wrote. “The team I was with sedated the mama bear to give her a check up. We hold the cubs to keep them warm for a few minutes and then put them back with mama.”
One user in the comments section was worried that the mother bear might not take her cubs back if they smelled like human. However, Dr. Wynn-Grant stated in an update video that this wasn’t a cause for concern. Although many people have been taught that an animal will abandon their young if a human touches them, this isn’t actually the case.

“For animals like bears, the mother isn’t gonna reject it if it smells like a human,” she said. “What she will do, however, is lick it totally clean to get that scent off, and then they’ll be on their merry way.”
Obviously, this doesn’t mean it’s ok to pick up a baby bear! Dr. Wynn-Grant discourages anyone from getting too close to wild animals unless they’re a professional or working with professionals.
