“Very, Very Good Looking Gentleman,” AKA Parker McCollum, Joins Cross Canadian Ragweed On Final Night Of ‘The Boys From Oklahoma’
Parker McCollum stepping onto the stage at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Last night was the final show of The Boys from Oklahoma event in Stillwater, Oklahoma, celebrating the reunion of Cross Canadian Ragweed in the town that got them off the ground. Stillwater has a rich history when it comes to Red Dirt music, so Ragweed made the whole weekend about celebrating Oklahoma country artists creating stellar events around the stadium show that featured other artists like Tanner Usrey, Lance Roark, Kaitlin Butts, and more. Not to mention the legendary openers… The Great Divide, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland & the Stragglers, and the Turnpike Troubadours.
Each night, the boys had a few guests join them on stage, including some artists who performed earlier in the day, family members, and country music stars like Dierks Bentley. On the last night, they closed out the weekend with a bang, bringing out Parker McCollum.
I had a feeling that McCollum might make an appearance at some point during the weekend. Not only had he covered numerous Ragweed songs throughout his career, but his wife is an Oklahoma State alumna. Hallie Ray was an OSU Pom Team member, spending every weekend cheering on the Cowboys in BPS, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi, making her an active student during her time at the university.
Given these ties, it was the perfect storm for him to join the men of Cross Canadian Ragweed for a tune. During the set, Canada told the crowd that a “very, very good-looking gentleman ” would join them on stage for “Constantly.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, Parker McCollum.”
Canada seems thrilled that McCollum wanted to join them during their reunion, and you can feel how surreal it was for McCollum and Ragweed to perform together. McCollum joined in during the first chorus, before taking the lead on the song’s second verse. He blew it out of the water, adding his Texas twang to the Red Dirt lyrics.
“One look from her eyes gets me thinkin’What the hell could I have done this time? But it’s love that I mistake for angerThe woman drives me outta my mind
Hey lady, I’m nothin’ without youHey baby, you’re nothin’ without meWe got it constantly…”
I can’t say that a Parker McCollum and Cross Canadian Ragweed collab was on my 2025 bingo card, but I also didn’t have Ragweed reuniting on any of my bingo cards, so I’m quickly learning never to say never.
Boone Pickens Stadium has never looked better than it did over the weekend. It was filled with great music, an incredible crowd, and all the love for Cross Canadian Ragweed being back together. What a time to be alive.
