The novel—originally subtitled “A Fairy Story”—tells the story of a group of animals who rebel against their human owners. It is not a subtle story, and Orwell himself was clear that it was a satire aimed at Stalin. The book has been adapted twice before, in 1954 and 1999. Seth Rogen (The Studio, pictured above) is set to voice the pig Napoleon. Roles for the rest of the cast have not been specified, but said cast includes Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things), Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Glenn Close (Dangerous Liaisons), Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black), Kieran Culkin (Succession), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Kathleen Turner (Serial Mom), and Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel). Serkis himself will also voice unknown character(s) in the film. Animal Farm is being adapted by writer Nick Stoller, who has worked on everything from Muppets Most Wanted to Zoolander 2. (He was also the director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.) The movie’s producers include Serkis’ The Batman director Matt Reeves. Though Variety‘s post about the cast did not include a release date, Movieweb says Animal Farm is due out on July 11th.[end-mark] The post Andy Serkis’ Animated Animal Farm Has Cast a Bunch of Big Stars appeared first on Reactor.
