No, Beyonce Is Not Nominated For Any 2025 ACM Awards
There will be no awards handed to Beyoncé for Cowboy Carter at the 2025 ACM Awards.
The conversation around Beyoncé’s brief dip into the country music genre intensifies every time a country music awards show rolls around. Most of the time, the discourse kicks up because the pop and R&B singer is left out of the award nominations altogether.
That has once again happened with the 2025 ACMs.
Beyoncé released her “country album” Cowboy Carter (that she clarified “wasn’t a country album”) back in March of 2024. It was certainly a cultural moment, and one could argue that it was successful out of the gate. But after its initial release, it really lacked the staying power on the Billboard charts that you would expect from someone as big as Beyoncé. That’s even translated into low ticket sales on her Cowboy Carter Tour.
Then, after it failed to be nominated at many of last year’s country music award shows, it seemed like the “country era” of Queen Bey was all but over with. However, Beyoncé then scored plenty of Grammy nominations for the project (or course), totaling 11 different nominations including “Best Country Album” and “Album of the Year.” The 43-year-old artist ended up taking home both of those awards and one other, bringing Beyoncé’s total Grammy Awards won up to 35 – the most of any artist in history.
Was that a sign of more awards to come? Or was that more of a culmination for Beyoncé? Well, considering that the ACMs passed her over for nominations – just as many of the other country music award shows did last year – I’d categorize her success at the Grammys as a bit of a flash in the pan… and having more to do with her being Beyonce than it did what she did for the country music world. Hell, even her own banjo player on the record, the talented Rhiannon Giddens, said she had “mixed feelings” about working on the project.
The 2025v ACM Nominees
The nominees for the 2025 ACM Awards were announced back in March, and Beyoncé was nowhere to be found. That’s when the word “snubbed” started getting thrown around once again, but the controversy definitely wasn’t as loud this time. Despite that, we still got somewhat of an explanation as to why Beyoncé scored zero nomination at the ACMs.
Damon Whiteside, the CEO of the Academy of Country Music, explained why he believed that the academy’s members didn’t give the pop superstar any nominations, and also suggested that he was disappointed not seeing her among the artists that were recognized:
“I think, more likely, they’re going to be voting for artists that they’ve got relationships with and work with on a regular basis and that are in the country music business 365. Were we hoping she’d be nominated? Absolutely.
We love that Beyoncé is in the country genre. That’s fantastic for all the country artists out there. It’s fantastic for the fans. The more successful she is, the more we’re bringing more mainstream people into the genre, which we want.”
I mean… if you ask me, mainstream people are more than welcome to organically work their way into the genre. But much of Cowboy Carter felt forced as country music, if you can even call it that (even Beyoncé refused to call it country). And I thought Luke Bryan even explained it pretty well (of course he got backlash for it), saying that if you don’t participate in the country music industry, it’s hard to get nominations. You can’t just put out a record and hope to win awards… I mean, most indie country artists who don’t participate in the Nashville music world aren’t getting nominated either. Post Malone, more so than anyone, has demonstrated what it is like to actually be a part of the community. And he’s since been welcomed with open arms.
Maybe that’s ultimately why the “Texas Hold Em'” singer was not nominated for any awards at the 2025 ACMs?The post No, Beyonce Is Not Nominated For Any 2025 ACM Awards first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
